AEHIT members,

Now almost five years young, AEHIT has grown in important ways over the last ten months. Our November issue is the last of the year, and I’d like to provide a glimpse into the strong progress we’ve made this year and challenge all of our members to make 2019 even stronger.

The AEHIT Foundation helps support many of our programs, from our Fall Summit to our online education we’re able to offer. In 2018, we doubled the size of the AEHIT Foundation – a huge success that points towards continued growth in 2019. The AEHIT Foundation is made up of industry leading firms from across healthcare IT, and members have been critical in linking up new firms with the AEHIT Foundation. If you’re passionate about AEHIT and the community we’re building full of high level healthcare IT leaders, I encourage you to advocate with your strong industry relationships and encourage them to join the AEHIT Foundation.

This year, we’ve doubled the number of informational webinars we’ve offered our membership, including partnering with CHIME to offer high level executive education to our CTOs and IT leaders. Our AEHIT Foundation growth has certainly allowed industry leaders to lend thought leadership to our AEHIT Live webinar series, but a number of new webinar opportunities have come directly from our membership and the hard work of our AEHIT Education and Professional Development Committee.

Thanks to word of mouth from members, recruiting opportunities at industry events, and more, AEHIT has grown by over 100 members in 10 months. With more nodes in our network, we become an even stronger organization. AEHIT’s goal is to connect healthcare IT leaders and transform healthcare IT, and with additional engaged members, we draw closer to that vision of a transformative organization.

AEHIT Interact, our listserve, is humming with meaningful peer-level discussions around healthcare IT challenges. This opportunity to collaborate has not gone unnoticed by a large group of members – around one third of AEHIT members are subscribed to our listserve, and many new voices have spoken up and engaged through email communication this year. This is a great way to get involved with your peers and contribute your knowledge to critical issues our AEHIT leaders are facing at their own organizations. While we are competitors in the marketplace, the unifying mission of each of our provider organizations is to contribute positively to patient care, and collaboration increases our ability to excel.

Looking ahead to 2019, we’re increasingly excited about opportunities to partner with CHIME on new education opportunities. We look forward to offering more webinars and focus groups for members to learn, network, and ask important questions that can help them solve problems. Our industry partners are eager to share their knowledge and passion for healthcare IT with you, and we hope you’ll attend many webinars throughout 2019. AEHIT will be encouraging further public policy participation and advocacy in Washington D.C. – thanks to our strong CHIME Public Policy team and Public Policy Steering Committee, we’re able to offer technology leaders a voice on Capitol Hill from which to affect change in healthcare legislation and regulation. And of course, we’ll continue to grow as an association and look for opportunities to add positively to our community of executives in healthcare IT.

I look forward to your continued involvement in AEHIT and all the exciting opportunities to join healthcare IT leaders in changing healthcare. If you have any questions about your membership or how to get engaged in your association – please reach out to me at [email protected].
